AMIRA LAMTI
Tunisian visual artist, born in 1996 in Sousse, where she lives and works.
In 2019, she obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Photography, followed by a Master’s in Fine Arts Research from the Higher Institute of Fine Arts of Sousse.
Deeply anchored in her native soil, Amira’s work contemplates the intricate ties between human beings and the natural and social worlds they inhabit. From the outset of her artistic journey, she chose the lens—both photographic and cinematic—to capture and distill her daily life, preserving fleeting moments, gestures, and rituals, as though catching whispers of time itself.
Her art, steeped in the themes of heritage and transmission, weaves together her own narratives, layering still and moving images that span diverse realms. Amira’s vision is to craft works that transcend cultural boundaries, infused with the pulse of contemporary life, yet timeless in their essence.
Exhibiting regularly since 2018, Amira participated in a mentorship program at the National School of Photography in Arles in 2024. That same year, she also took part in the Gabes Cinema Fen festival, particularly in the K-OFF section dedicated to video art in Tunisia, as well as the Scan Tarragona festival in Spain, after a two-month artistic residency at Hangar Barcelona. In 2022, after completing an 11-month artist residency at the Center for Living Arts in Radès, Tunis, she held her first solo exhibition at the Yosr Ben Ammar Gallery during the 6th edition of the Jaou Biennale in Tunisia.
She’s been the artist in residency since September 2024, finalizing her solo exhibition “Bent el Machta” for the 7th edition of the Jaou Biennale in Tunisia at the Yosr Ben Ammar Gallery.
