hAMZA sELLMY
NOV-DEC 2025
Hamza Sellmy (b. 1994) is a self-taught visual artist and entrepreneur based in Sousse, Tunisia. Working across painting, illustration, animation, and design, he has developed a distinctive pop and offbeat aesthetic shaped by cubist-inspired figures marked by fatigue, solitude, and raw emotional depth.
His practice often reflects the realities of contemporary North African youth, exploring themes of isolation, hyperculture, and the search for identity. Through Banjer — the creative studio he founded — Sellmy bridges art and design, producing interdisciplinary projects in fashion, communication, and visual culture. His use of Tunisian dialect, Tamazight references, and cultural motifs creates an intimate dialogue with his audience while encouraging broader cultural exchange.
Sellmy’s work has been exhibited in group shows in Tunisia, notably at Galerie Yosr Ben Ammar, as well as in France, Italy, and Japan. His artistic practice has also been highlighted in international publications such as Dune Magazine, Ancre Magazine, and Divide Magazine (London).
