Bechir boussandel (B.1984)
Born in 1984 in Saint-Pol-sur-Mer, Bechir Boussandel lives and works in Lille.
A painter, he develops a practice that questions space and time in a poetic relationship to drawing and the pictorial surface. His works bring forth ordinary objects or characters, isolated in indeterminate settings where time seems suspended. Stripped of their particularities, they are transformed into purified still lifes, endowed with a universal character. In his recent research, Boussandel goes beyond the limits of the canvas to explore vaster expanses.

Between abstraction and figuration, he constructs landscapes where horizon lines and shadow plays establish depth and relief. Starting from a colored base of pure abstraction — the signature of his work — he introduces objects, animals, and scenes inspired by his travels and experiences. Playing with planes, textures, and forms, he assembles these fragments into a contemporary mosaic, at once intimate and open to elsewhere.
