soft monuments | Group Show

May 14th, 2026 – June 27th, 2026 | Bhar Lazrag

Pushing back against a monumentality frozen in stone and rigid structures, "Soft Monuments" charts the contours of a counter-history. The exhibition deconstructs traditional heritage hierarchies, replacing them with a raw, porous legacy that breaks free from institutional constraints.
Forsaking the hard for the malleable, the mineral for the organic, it positions textiles, paper, recycled matter, and natural fibers as the new foundations of our memory.

In a cultural landscape traditionally spellbound by ruins and preservation, Soft Monuments celebrates the beauty of the ephemeral. Here, unconventional materials become the vehicles for an intangible heritage, weaving a bridge between ancestral craftsmanship and contemporary critique.

The exhibition also gives flesh to the intangible: oral histories, whispered traditions, and soundscapes permeate the space to exist beyond physical walls.

How can a monument be erected from a thread, a sheet of paper, a root, or a memory? How can we envision a history that, rather than turning to stone, knows how to breathe, decompose, and regenerate?
