Hamza Sellmy
Hamza Sellmy (b. 1994) is a visual artist and entrepreneur based in Sousse, Tunisia.
Self-taught, he explores multiple disciplines including painting, illustration, animation, and design. His work is defined by a pop and offbeat aesthetic, populated with cubist-inspired figures bearing weary eyes and raw emotions. Often depicted in solitude, these figures reflect the tensions of contemporary North African youth, navigating between loneliness, hyperculture, and the search for identity.
As founder of the creative studio Banjer, Sellmy merges art and design through projects in fashion, communication, and visual culture. He frequently incorporates elements of Tunisian culture—such as local dialect and Tamazight—into his creations, creating an intimate connection with his audience while fostering intercultural dialogue.
His work has been shown in group exhibitions in Tunisia, notably at Yosr Ben Ammar Gallery in Tunis, as well as in galleries across France, Italy, and Japan. His practice has also been featured in international publications including Dune Magazine, Ancre Magazine, and Divide Magazine (London).
