MIRA AGDAL

Born in 1975, Mira Agdal is a Polish artist. She currently lives and works in Tunisia. She studied Egyptian and Sudanese archaeology at the University of Warsaw. Agdal is also a documentary filmmaker and has participated in several international festivals as a film author. The artist has also participated in multiple group and solo exhibitions.

In her paintings, Mira Agdal addresses the issue of rapid urbanization in our regions. Her approach resembles the preservation and restoration of the original urban fabric in view of the current population. The artist also populates her plastic space with numerous figures. Through her clean, straight lines that segment her canvases and her cold, muted color palette, Mira Agdal fosters a fusion with the maritime public domain and raises awareness of urban and environmental issues. An eminent presence of blue—the sky and the sea—pervades her work. She approaches locations from a maritime perspective, reflecting her intent to seek solutions that restore the original climate of these places: a process of urban expansion and reconstruction.
