Odela | Group Show

April 24, 2011 - May 14, 2011 | La Soukra

The exhibition [odela] visions of contemporary artists, will present a selection of works by seven Tunisian artists and six artists residing in Spain.

The concept of beyond can be interpreted from a mystical and transcendental perspective, as well as from a physical and geographical point of view. It refers to spaces, places, distances… but also to what remains invisible, intangible.

Referring to Tunisia, after the January 14, 2011 Revolution, which opened the way for the entire Arab world, it is certain that the initial meaning of this exhibition's theme has gained many other layers of significance. We are faced with a new reality, currently in full process of debate and definition.

When this exhibition was conceived in September 2010, the choice of this theme was meant to be a starting point that could serve artists from both countries to develop their works around this concept. Today, the question of [odela] remains relevant.

The hope for a promising future begins to take shape today, with all the initiatives that have been established, seeking to create new structures for the flourishing of visual arts in Tunisia.

What meaning can be given today to the concept of [odela]?
How do artists perceive this [odela]?
