AMIRA LAMTI
Amira Lamti, Tunisian visual artist, was born in 1996 in Sousse, where she lives and works. In 2019, she obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Photography, followed by a Master of Research in Visual Arts at the Higher Institute of Fine Arts of Sousse.
Rooted in her native environment, Amira investigates the connection between humans and their natural and social surroundings. From the beginning of her artistic research, she has chosen photography and videography as tools to fragment her daily life, capturing moments, gestures, and rituals.
Focusing on heritage and transmission, she creates her own narratives, juxtaposing images of various kinds, still and/or in motion. She aims to produce works imbued with contemporary influences, transcending cultural boundaries.
Exhibiting regularly since 2018, Amira participated in 2024 in a mentorship program at the École Nationale Supérieure de la Photographie in Arles. That same year, she also took part in the Gabes Cinéma Fen festival, particularly in the K-OFF section dedicated to video art in Tunisia, as well as at the Scan Tarragona festival in Spain, after a two-month artistic residency at Hangar Barcelona. In 2022, following an 11-month residency at the Centre des Arts Vivants in Radès, Tunis, she presented her first solo exhibition at the Yosr Ben Ammar Gallery as part of the 6th edition of the Biennale Jaou in Tunisia.
She is currently in residence at the Yosr Ben Ammar Gallery for the finalization of her solo exhibition “Bent el Machta,” part of the 7th edition of the Biennale Jaou in Tunisia.
